What is Equine Manipulation?
Using gentle manipulation of the bones of the head, vertebral column, pelvis, and limbs, Equine Manipulation works to correct and improve performance, health and general well-being by ensuring the proper functioning of the nerves and endocrine systems of the body.
McTimoney-Corley trained practitioners’ work holistically using their hands to assess and treat the cause of a problem rather than just the symptoms. These gentle, highly refined techniques work to release soft tissue spasms improving realignment within the animal’s musculoskeletal system leading to increased suppleness and flexibility. These improvements directly affect a horse’s ability to perform in all disciplines.
The History of Animal Manipulation
Animal Manipulation was first introduced in the 1970s by John McTimoney DC, who worked on animals using modified chiropractic techniques. Within the decade these techniques were used, modified and supplemented by Hugh Corley DC (OSC). In the mid 1980s Shelagh James Hudson DC (WSC) further advanced, expanded and adapted the McTimoney-Corley spinal therapy for animal treatment.
